Year End Reflection: 3 Simple Questions To Help You End The Year Strong
Ready to reflect on your year?
I don't know about you, but I love a good excuse for some quality self-reflection and goal-setting.
And there's no better time to sit down and get cozy with your wins and failures than just before the new year.
As a business owner, taking time to reflect on the past year can be super important for both your business outlook and your spirits.
The new year offers an incredible symbolic and fiscal turning point.
Now is a great time to honor how far you've come and set your intentions for where you'd like to focus your energy in the coming months.
Are you with me?
Honour your journey - You're amazing
No matter where you're at in your business journey, I just want to honor how much you've kicked butt!
Running a business takes an insane amount of perseverance, ambition, energy, enthusiasm, and agility (you gotta be able to bounce back after the lulls and burnout), and there's no amount of emphasis in the world that can do justice to the incredible amount of respect and admiration I have for you.
You've made it through a full year, and now it's important to celebrate your wins, honor your accomplishments, acknowledge your failures and bring light to the lessons you've learned.
Ever since joining B-School, one of my year-end traditions has been to cozy up with this delicious video where Marie Forleo presents three simple, yet powerful questions to ask yourself to reflect on your past year.
So grab some tea, a fuzzy blanket and your journal and check it out...

3 Simple Questions:
1. What did I do, create or experience this year that I'm really proud of?
2. What mistakes did I make that taught me something? What lessons did I learn that I can leverage?
3. What am I willing to let go of?
Bonus question:
How am I different this year from last?
Here are my answers....
1. What did I do, create or experience this year that I'm really proud of?
I'm a gifter and supporter, and I'm proud that I've honored that part of me in my business, regardless of what anyone else has suggested.
I'm proud of the thoughtfulness, time and dedication I poured into creating my new Instagram photo membership this year. And am proud that I really listened to my audience to create the best, most value-packed membership for them.
I'm proud of my dedication for breaking through some massively limiting beliefs, and improving myself as a human being.
I'm proud that, even though it was super hard and took a toll on my young business, I didn't let business get in the way of life and was there to support my friend who is really sick.
2. What mistakes did I make that taught me something? What lessons did I learn that I can leverage?
I didn't create a healthy work-life balance.
I got in the habit of checking my phone first thing upon awaking, which spiraled into staring at my computer until bedtime.
I sacrificed the things I love to do, like spending time in nature, coffee with friends, yoga, volunteering and laughing, and ended up a secluded hermit.
1. What am I willing to let go of?
I'm ready to let go of the imbalance I've created with work/biz.
I'm ready to let go of my check-email-first addiction.
I'm ready to let go of the overwhelming pressure of feeling I need to "take care" of everyone else.
I'm ready to let go of that voice in my head that says "Briena, you don't have time for yoga/meditation/exercise/self-care, you need to keep working".
I'm ready to let go of that pesky DIY mindset that keeps rearing its head, insisting that I have to do it all on my own.
Deeper Reflection
The truth is, I know my business (and I) will thrive even more so when I create more balance, boundaries, structure and space - and when I tap into support from others.
I experienced unbridled growth and hit new levels (once inconceivable to me) both on a personal and financial scale when I launched my passion biz and joined Marie Forleo's B-School - making the conscious choice to release the DIY mentality - it CHANGED MY LIFE.
Habits are hard to break, though. So this year, I'm committing to make conscious choices to continue what I started by tapping into programs, trainings, products and resources to relieve some of the pressure of having to do it "all on my own", excel my business, and make more space and time for me.
